The Brad Steinwehe Jazz Orchestra Biography
An important trumpeter, bandleader, and educator on the West Coast, Brad Steinwehe leads a fine big band. Steinwehe graduated from San Diego State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in music in 1992 and a masters in 1994. As an educator, he has taught at the University of Northern Colorado, Paloma College, Miramar College, and his alma mater SDSU. Steinwehe is also a clinician and brass coach in the San Diego area.
As a lead trumpeter, Steinwehe's experience is expansive. In addition to working with recording legends Tony Bennett, Lou Rawls, Donna Summer, Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole, and Melissa Manchester, Steinwehe has also traveled to Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Denmark, and Costa Rica to perform. Steinwehe's San Diego State University Jazz Ensemble has also played at the Montreux and North Sea jazz festivals.
Jim Santella from All About Jazz recommends Steinwehe's performances: "Come enjoy the powerful sounds of the Brad Steinwehe Jazz Orchestra! Steinwehe's interpretations revel in a form of dramatic intensity that rocks hard while driving home its powerful message of musical precision."
