he portraits I paint are pretty simple. Primarily I’m just trying to create images that may be interesting to enjoy for a moment, and perhaps wonder about. There is a darkness, or underlying melancholy, that I try to balance with hope through color, a feeling in the eyes, or in the care and attention given each painting as if it were of someone we love . . . despite their circumstance.
It is a pleasure making art, and sharing with people what I have learned. So much a part of my work is the fulfillment of the interaction between us - you and I.
